Run Shrewsbury!

Massachusetts weather.  So what? Many of us run winter, summer and fall. But spring makes those runs just a little bit easier and a lot more enjoyable. How can anyone avoid being outdoors on a sunny day? And with the upcoming Boston Marathon, we’re sure a lot of you are itching to get in a bit of practice before the big day. Here’s a list of 5k events happening in and around Shrewsbury that’ll get our limbs limber.

Central Mass Striders 52 Week Series
Saturday at 9 is one of the Central Mass races, open to anyone who wants to run, no matter what speed or age.  Come join your community of excited runners. The flat and fairly easy 5k starts at Worcester State College. There is a $5 entry fee for non CMS members and $3 for CMS 

Central Mass Spartans Baseball 5k Race
Sunday (April 13) the CMS baseball team is sponsoring a 5k race at the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY. Races are divided by age. Top male and female winners will be awarded a trophy and other prizes. Registration at 7:30; shirts a must for all runners! 

Millbury Parents Club 5k and Fun Run
The Millbury Parents Club is hosting a 5k road race this Sunday, April 13, to benefit the town’s schools. The race begins at 9:45 after the one-mile fun run at 9:15. All ages and abilities are welcome. Registration can be made in advance or on race day, beginning at 8 a.m. at the high school. Cost ranges from $15-$28 for individuals and $60-$63 for families, depending on you register.
