Dangers of Using Foil over Drip Pans on a Stove

When it comes to cooking people often look for shortcuts in order to save time cleaning up. Unfortunately these shortcuts can often be dangerous and many of them involve heat and aluminum foil. If you have ever put aluminum foil in the microwave you know what we are talking about. Another dangerous cooking cheat is the use of aluminum foil on stove burners which can have similar results as the combo of heat and metal in the microwave.

People often use aluminum foil to protect the stove from burning food or damage to your pots and pans but this cooking cheat could result in even greater damage. The aluminum heats up and will remain hot for an extended period of time. If let unattended it can result in people burning themselves or in a worst case scenario the start of a fire. Over time the food particles and grease can build up in a puddle and can ignite. Though the odds of this scenario are not super common it can still happen, but there are simple things you can do to protect your stove and your unit.

A simple and free solution includes simply whipping down your stove each time you cook. This will prevent buildup damage and the potential of food particles catching on fire. This can be accomplished with a simple wet rag and is no cost to you.

If you are looking for another alternative and are willing to spend a little money you can invest in a set of drip pans that collect grease and food particles. These pans can removed and washed and will be ready and safe to be used again! This product can be found at stores like Walmart, Target and Kmart for as low as $14.99 and is safe and effective!

Whether you select either of these solutions we hope you’ve learned the dangers of cooking with tin foil on the stove! Be cautious when you are cooking and keep Shrewsbury Commons safe!
